Microwave Pear Dessert

I recently ended up purchasing 50 lbs of pears, yes you heard right…50!  Even though I don’t can, somehow I thought it sounded like a good idea!  :)  I did manage to use up all the pears after getting a little creative with recipes.  That led to Pear Week on my blog and another special pear dessert created just for you lovely readers!  I wanted something that would be quick and easy, but really delicious.  I’m so happy with how this turned out!

I can’t believe how simple this is and oh my – it is so decadent!  You can serve up a fancy dessert to guests in no time!

Microwave Pear Dessert

1 ripe Bartlett pear, cut in half lengthwise
2 teaspoons mini chocolate chips
2 teaspoons finely chopped pecans
Caramel syrup

Slice pear in half lengthwise.  Scoop out core from middle.  Cut a thin slice from each bottom so pear halves will lay flat on plate.  Sprinkle mini chocolate chips and chopped pecans over tops.  Microwave* each pear half on high for 45 seconds – 1 minute.  Pear should be soft and hot with chocolate chips just starting to melt.  Place each pear half on serving plate (or in bowl) and drizzle caramel syrup over top.  Also yummy with a little whipped cream added.  You might try adding a scoop of ice cream for extra deliciousness!  :)  Serves 2.

*If you don’t use a microwave, you could try heating the pear halves in the oven.

Quick, easy, and delicious – the best kind of dessert! And it’s fruit so it’s *healthy*, right?? LOL! ;)
