I haven’t always been good at being generous. In fact I feel like it goes against my nature. I married a man who loves to give. I have learned a ton from him about being a cheerful and generous giver.
One of the things we love to do together is using our giving to fuel our passions. Most of us have many passions but we could never devote all our time and energy to them. Most of us have “day jobs” that aren’t in areas we are necessarily passionate. And even if they are, we are typically passionate about more than one thing.
So when we were first married we sat down and talked about what causes we were passionate about. Then we allocated certain funds towards non-profits and organizations that were doing amazing work in those areas. Every year or so we revisit and see if the organizations are still where our hearts are or if we want to spread the money to other causes.
Are you passionate about the global orphan crisis? Sex trafficking? Preserving marriage? Support for families with cancer? The environment? There are so many causes out there. What stirs your heart? I think God places these passions on our hearts so we can be His hands and feet.
So give generously and give passionately!

I am glad you married a giver : ) There are so many causes. I love to support missionaries. I also try to give locally in the city to agencies that are making a difference for the families I work with in poverty.
