I have been sitting on this fail all week, just waiting for the chance to share it with you all! This was a major Mommy and Daddy FAIL! On Monday, our oldest son had a field trip scheduled where he had to be at school by 6:45 am. Just to put this in perspective, I do not usually even wake our children up for school until 6:40 am. I knew about the field trip and had been planning for it for several days. Hubs and I had made a plan for his leaving work early on Monday morning so he could come home and take our son to the school early. I put the kids to bed early on Sunday night in preparation for having to get everyone up early the following morning. I laid clothes and backpacks out and even had breakfast (dry cereal) set out on the counter to help speed things along.
Sounds like a good plan, maybe even a success; right?! One problem – one major problem… I failed to set my alarm clock any earlier! That was the Mommy FAIL. I wasn’t alone. Hubby Dearest also forgot – he forgot that he was supposed to leave work early and come home by 6:30 to pick up our son! Daddy FAIL. Had I gotten up on time (or early), I would have been able to call and remind Hubs. Or had he remembered to come home early, he would have been able to wake me up early. Yep, royal FAIL for both.
Instead, our son came dashing into my room at 6:35 frantic because he was going to miss his field trip. Realizing that Dad was not going to make it home in time, we made a mad dash to get him dressed, fed, and ready to go in less than five minutes. Thankfully we only live a couple minutes from the school, so I put the younger two in the car in their pj’s, straight up out of the bed, and dashed out the door. Thankfully, we arrived at the school at 6:48 and the buses were not loaded yet. Despite our fail, he had a wonderful and adventurous day. Praise the Lord.
