Another year has come and gone! I honestly cannot believe that 2009 is coming to an end in just a matter of days! When I reflect back on the past 365 days of my life, I am amazed at all the lessons learned and trials survived. God’s grace is truly an amazing thing! I am overwhelmed by all the things, both good and bad, that were crammed into just one short year. While I am thankful for all the blessings of the past year, I am also thankful that it is coming to an end, and thankful for the hope that the new year brings!
With New Year’s Day just a few short days away, it is time once again to make those New Year’s resolutions. For me, it is more a tradition of setting goals to reorganize and restructure our family life in the new year. Of course, it also involves such things as cleaning out closets, ridding the house of unnecessary clutter, reorganizing closets and cabinets, and any other cleaning and straightening projects I can find! Typically, I also set some sort of goal to spend more time with family, be a better mom and wife, and so on. Sad to say, though, I am much better at keeping my cleaning goals than I am the family-related ones! Please tell me I am not alone in that!
Each new year, I also make some sort of resolution to read through the Bible or a particular devotional study. I do really well with the studies (usually a Beth Moore one), but my goal to read through the Bible usually gets lost in the shuffle somewhere. I’m ashamed to admit that in all the years I have known the Lord, I have yet to completely know His Word. I can quote you large chunks of the Scriptures, and can tell you a reference to a verse that deals with almost any particular situation. However, I have yet to ever completely read the Bible cover to cover! That’s why I have decided to join in with The Bible in 90 Days challenge hosted by Mom’s Toolbox. I am super excited to have such an intense schedule of reading for the set time frame of 90 days! I do so much better with any goal as long as I have a strict deadline to abide by. With all these lovely bloggers supporting me and encouraging us all to stick with it, I have great hopes for success this year!
Please visit Mom’s Toolbox for details on how to join in as well! There is also a 90-day Bible that is recommended for the challenge, and I’m sure it is worth the investment. However, I will be using my husband’s New Living Translation Parallel Bible for my reading. We already have it on hand, and I am already familiar with it for my reading and devotions, so that’s what will probably work the best for me. The challenge starts on January 1, 2010, and includes 2 grace days in order to complete the entire Bible in less than 90 days!
If you decide to jump in with me, please come back here and leave me a comment to let me know! I would love for us to be able to be a source of encouragement and accountability for each other!
